A mexican tradition: The wise men's day

 The wise men's day

In Mexico, we have a beautiful tradition named "The wise men's day". This celebration is on January 5th night's eve and in the morning on January 6th.

The children write a letter to The wise men's in which they ask for toys, candies or gifts because they behave well during all the year. If the child was good, he will receive gifts but if the child behaved badly, he won't receive anything.

This tradition was originated by the Holy night on December 24th when The baby Jesus was born and the three Wise men visited to bring him gold, frankincese and myrrh.

Also, on this day Mexican families eat a delicios bread called "Rosca de reyes" which is a bread with "ATE" a popular fruit concentrate and dried fruits. This bread contains an unexpected surprise; baby Jesus made of plastic. If you get a slice of Rosca de reyes with a baby Jesus, you need to give tamales and atole on February 2nd, the day of the Candelaria, another Mexican tradition. The Rosca is also eaten with a yummy hot chocolate to drink.

This celebration is beautiful and includes a lot of happiness, hope and family.
